The British Ecological Society’s Journal of Ecology publishes original research papers on all aspects of the ecology of plants (including algae), in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.

Journal of Ecology aims to bring important work using any ecological approach (including molecular techniques) to a wide international audience and therefore only publishes papers with strong and ecological messages that advance our understanding of ecological principles. Experimental and theoretical studies of plant communities, populations or individual species are published, as well as studies of the interactions between plants and animals, fungi or bacteria, providing they focus on the ecology of the plants. The research presented transcends the limits of case studies and is of general interest to ecologists.

About the Society

As the oldest ecological learned society in the world, the British Ecological Society’s vision is to advance ecology and make it count. Its activities include the publication of five internationally renowned journals, the organisation of a variety of meetings, funding of numerous grant schemes, and far-reaching education and policy work.
