The Western Sydney University Penrith Observatory is located on the Werrington North Campus off the Great Western Highway and runs programs which include undergraduate teaching (image processing and analysis), family astronomy nights, HSC programs for schools, teachers' workshops and Astronomy for Indigenous students.

A visit to the Penrith Observatory can include listening to fascinating lectures on various aspects of astronomy, watching a 3D Astronomy movie and viewing the sky through fully computerised telescopes. You can also come and listen to special lectures given by some of Australia's eminent and internationally recognised astronomers, physicists and engineers.

The Penrith Observatory app provides an automatically updating calendar detailing both astronomical events (such as eclipses, meteror showers, moon phases and more) and a list of our public astronomy programs.

The Observatory Calendar includes the scheduled date and time of the program, the topic of the presentation, and a short description of the program theme. Users can also add the events to their personal calendars from within the app.

The Penrith Observatory app also contains details about the observatory itself, including an interactive map showing how to get to the facility.

The app calendars are automatically updated upon launch so you always have access the latest information. The updating procedure requires an Internet connection (via a mobile network or WiFi). In the event that no network connectivity is available, the app will use the last accessed version.
