WordMap is an information visualization toy which turns web text into rearrangeable word clouds. Think of it as magnetic poetry meets blog tag clouds. A quick and interactive way to get a new understanding of a keyword, website or location, WordMap uses the internet tell you something, and lets you say something in return.

Interact:
- Double touch a word to build a new map from the search results for that word. That word leads you to a new unexpected word, and then the next word, and your exploration has begun!
- Shake the device for a new random arrangement. With a new layout each shake, no two maps are alike.
- Touch the WordMap button to flip the map over and select your own sources and styles.

Build:
- Enter an internet search keyword to build a word map from the top search results page. Not quite a definition, but a different way to see the "internet meaning" of any word.
- Select your location to build a map from nearby geo-tagged Wikipedia pages. A new way to look at where you live, or just where you are!
- Provide a full URL to get a map of any web page with extractable text. Try mapping your favorite Twitter page, news source, or Wikipedia article.

Design:
- Touch and drag words to redraw the map and make it your own.
- Choose from five styles to customize the colors, case and font. Match the medium to the message, or play them off each other, with themes like "Elegant Invitation" and "Pulp Fiction".
- Random layouts alternate between filled grids and spacier lists, with just a shake. Rearrange to portrait or landscape mode by rotating.

Requirements and Limitations:
- Requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
- URLs you provide must have extractable text encoded as ascii or utf-8. Image files, Flash sites and many foreign language sites cannot be mapped.
- The size of texts that can be mapped is limited by the memory and speed of the platform, and larger texts may take a couple minutes to process.
- Some words are filtered from the maps, and will never appear no matter how frequent.
- WordMap provides unfiltered access to the internet. Although it doesn't display images or rendered web pages, user discretion is required.

If you want to share or save your WordMap, just press home and power simultaneously to save a screenshot to your Camera Roll. From there you can email, post and share your creations...

Not so much useful as ornamental; this map app won't give you directions, but it might give you a word or two of insight!
