The MÆMa (Multilingual Amharic-English Messaging Application) is developed for Ethiopian writing system known as ‘Fiedel’ or Letters or characters. The MÆMa application soft key board is made up of 30 main Ethiopian ‘Fiedels’.
This Application demonstrates how to exchange SMS and email messages using both Amharic and English language and it displays the detailed messages as Unicode compliant product. It also demonstrates that users can search words using Amharic compliant web sites in addition to SMS & Email functions.
The application has the following 3 functions that are fully integrated with Android Operating System (OS) Platform even if an Ethiopian Language, Amharic, is not included in the list of supported languages of countries that support fonts and other requirements.
The three functions are:
1) Amharic and English SMS Text Messaging
2) Amharic and English Email exchange Messaging
3) Search Amharic and English words or phrases
Users who have an Android OS version 3.0 and above compatible devices such as Smart Phones and Tablets can use this application.
I developed MÆMa application for the main purpose that Amharic, Ethiopian writing language system MUST goes with the current fast growing trends of ICT hardware and software products as well as services delivery at the Cloud Computing Environment via SaaS (software as a service tool).
This software is donated to iTTS (I Technology Transfer Service) for establishing Age Care, Child Care and Disability Services as NGO in Ethiopia to provide services for needy.
I would like all Ethiopian use this application to develop the use of Ethiopian writing language system.
