This application was developed in order to assist in the alignment of Ku-Band (as well as some C-Band) satellite dishes.
It is very easy to use. Simply click on the “Find My Location” button in order to set your current latitude and longitude. Select the satellite you wish to align and then click on the calculate button. The results are shown in °E from North. Using a compass this will give you the approximate initial position for your selected satellite.
NB: LNB skew should be set as if you are standing behind the dish looking at the LNB feedhorn
Position is obtained via GPS if available. However positioning accuracy when using the standard built in “network” provider (aka Skyhook) works perfectly well. It is only necessary to get a reading of within 5 kms of your target. Even at this range your dish alignment will only be approximately 0.1° out.
The GPS receiver will activate for a period of 1 minute. If no GPS fix is found during this time then it will automatically fallback to Skyhook. If you are indoors and cannot obtain a GPS fix, you have the option of cancelling the search with the button “Stop GPS”.
