If you have your own business premises, you will understand the need for secure locking on doors. Commercial door suppliers have a number of different types of lock that can be used to secure buildings, depending upon the type of door and the levels of access the building owner requires.

For some property owners, they need strong, robust doors which can be easily opened for deliveries, but securely locked up at the end of a working day. For retail shops and showrooms, owners will need secure locks to protect the stock when the shop is closed, but they will also need to be attractive doors which are inviting and easy for customers to use.

Traditional locks like mortar and tubular locks can be used on heavy industrial doors and other types of commercial doors. They are the two most common forms of lock in use.

Mortise locks are known to be strong. They involve the creation of a fitment which is placed within the door, so when the door is locked, the mechanism clicks in to place and holds the door locked firm. It can only be opened with a key and is extremely difficult to break or tamper with. If a mortise lock is fitted onto an extremely strong door, then it can be almost impossible to break in to it. At the very least, it would take a great deal of effort, and thieves are put off by security measures which slow their progress!

Many internal doors within commercial premises use tubular locks. These are very popular for office doors, storage cupboards or doors granting access to areas which are for certain staff only, like maintenance areas, or boiler rooms, cleaning supply storage areas and so on.

Tubular locks are easy to fit and replace as required, and can be made with either single or double cylinders, depending upon requirements.
Technology can play a significant part in door security too. Automatic doors, and even hollow metal doors and frames, can be fitted with electronic security systems which grant access to authorised personnel and stay firmly secured when not in use.

Electronic security options include infra-red sensors, entry code systems, card swipe entry, key-fob entry, scanners and even voice recognition. The level of security placed upon a commercial door depends entirely upon its level of use, its location, the type of business and the client's budget.

The first step, if you have your own business premises, is to consider the external doors to your property. Making sure your building is secure from the outside is the first step. Once the appropriate level of security has been achieved with external doors, you can then start to consider the best options for the internal doors.

Choosing the right doors and the strongest locks for your business is an investment in your business, and in the safety of your property, your customers and your staff.

Metal
Metal doors are one of the most expensive options but they also offer the most security. They are pretty much impossible to force open. Like uPVC doors that require a special frame, metal doors must be placed in metal door frames. Proper installation is a must. It is therefore best to higher an expert. Metal doors come in many different styles, including styles with beautiful decorative designs.
