Jung Ho-seok, better known as "J-Hope", is a rapper, dancer, singer, songwriter, and record producer from South Korea. In 2013, J-Hope debuted as a member of the South Korean boy band BTS, managed under Big Hit Entertainment. As one of the main composers for the group, he has 77 songs accredited under his name by the Korea Music Copyright Association.
J-Hope released his first mixtape, Hope World, worldwide on March 1, 2018. The album was received with a positive reception, and his debut at number 63 made him the highest K-pop solo artist on the Billboard 200.
J-Hope debuted as a BTS member on Mnet's M! Countdown with the song "No More Dream" from the debut single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. He is the third member to join the group as a trainee after RM and Suga. J-Hope has since been involved in the making of each BTS album. His stage name, “J-Hope comes from his desire to represent hope for fans, as well as to become“ BTS's hope. ”His stage name is often written as“ j-hope ”, and all solo releases for the rapper have referred to him in this way.
