Beaten by his stepmother, he ran away at 13 from his home to live on the street. He is loved by everyone because he is actively involved in projects in his neighborhood. Omar is passionate about football and dreams of becoming a great player without knowing he has a particular voice ...
He is a Muslim from the brotherhood of the Mourides. Their philosophy is to place work, honesty, peace as essential values in their religious practice and in their daily lives.
Today, he is a committed singer, who denounces corruption, passes messages to the youth. He takes over the role of the griots of his childhood but wanted to adapt the traditional music to the youth. His style imbued with cool Mbalax, sabar (percussion), world-jazz, etc. has profoundly influenced West African music and he has internationalized the "Afro-feeling", a mix of jazz, funk or Afro-Cuban music with of course the roots immersed in Senegalese music.

It was not until 1976 that his music as well as Senegalese music broke through, with the effect of Youssou N'Dour, which made Senegal known at the international level
