The Lumière festival will be held from Saturday the 12th to Sunday the 20th of October in Lyon and its metropolis.
Organized every year by the Institut Lumière team, supported by the Metropolis of Lyon and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region, as well as by a host of private partners, the Lumière festival has become an essential event of reference in a decade, honoring the vitality of international cinema. In 2018, attendance reached 185,000 festivalgoers, including 129,000 in movie theaters. In ten years, the Lumière festival has already welcomed 1,300,000 people.
Lumière 2019 will be rich in events. Guests of honor will descend on Lyon from all over the world; Frances McDormand, Daniel Auteuil, Bong Joon-ho, Donald Sutherland, Marco Bellocchio, Marina Vlady and Gael Garcia Bernal will evoke their cinema and their love of films.
