This is because wooden pallets are cheaper than plastic and metal pallet furniture designs. Another reason is that they are made from renewable resources and are recyclable; and most importantly, wood pallets have high friction to make loads more secure.
In the past when you thought of a wood pallet furniture ideas you thought of bulk shipping and warehouses that would be responsible for moving product from one location to another. Most people didn't own their own pallets, and if they did it was because of the business that they owned. Today, pallets are much more commonplace and you may find that they are not just for shipping anymore.
Of course, if you look in any shipping truck or in the back of any retail store, you are likely to see pallets. They continue to be a great way to move product in bulk, because the forklifts can easily pick up a pallet outdoor furniture of product and move it from one place to another, putting it on trucks and taking it off and dispersing it as needed.
In the past, when I've recommended second hand timber pallets to friends who are DIY enthusiasts, they always tend to be skeptical. Admittedly, used tables made out of pallets are usually made from cheaper types of timber, such as pine for example, but with a little bit of effort and creativity, they can be turned into really nice furniture made out of outdoor furniture made from pallets.
All of the materials needed for this project, except the pallet designs, can be found at your local hardware or home improvement store. Finding a shipping making furniture out of pallets is not very difficult. Most stores receive these in excess with each shipment they receive. Call around to any local stores and simply ask if they have any shipping skid furniture that they need to get rid of.
