Muhammad Bahadur Shah Zafar (24 October 1775 – 7 November 1862) was the last Mughal emperor. He was the second son and became the successor to his father( Akbar II). Bahadur Shah Zafar was over sixty when he rises to the throne of Delhi. Bahadur Shah Zafar married Zeenat Mahal in 1840. who gave birth to his favorite son Mir Jawan Bakht. Bahadur Shah Zafar was a noted Urdu poet and in the art of calligraphy as well as a Sufi. Bahadur Shah Zafar has written a dozen of Urdu ghazals. After the war of independence of 1857, he was deported to Rangoon in 1858. Bahadur Shah Zafar died in 1862 at the age of 87. This marked the end of the Mughal rule in India.
