Gareth Frank Bale was born on July 16, 1989. He is a Welsh professional footballer who plays as a winger for the Spanish club Real Madrid and the national team of Wales. Renowned for his ranged shots, free-kicks and ability to outsmart defenders, Bale was applauded by his peers, who described him as a footballer with "incredible speed, excellent passing ability, a great left foot and exceptional physical qualities ".
He began his professional career in Southampton, as a left-back and distinguished himself as a free kick specialist. Bale moved to Tottenham Hotspur in 2007 for a potential fee of £ 7 million. During his stay in Tottenham, changes of direction and tactics saw him turn into a more aggressive player. Starting from the 2009-2010 season, Bale became an integral part of the team and attracted international attention during the 2010-2011 UEFA Champions League. In 2011 and 2013, he was named player of the year by the PFA players, as well as in the UEFA team of the year. In 2013, he was also named Youth Player of the Year PFA, Footballer of the Year FWA and Player of the Premier League Season. He was named a member of the PFA Team of the Year three times in a row between 2011 and 2013.
On September 1, 2013, Bale was transferred to Real Madrid for an undisclosed amount. The press of the time had announced a transfer value of between 91 and 100 million euros.
