Journaling is one of the oldest methods of staying mindful.
Traditionally done in writing, now with the help of technology, you can create your own talk therapy by recording your deepest thoughts, self-reflections, and emotions.

Imagine listening to your reflections in a few months’ or years’ time… In a way, every journal entry you record is a letter to your future self.

BENEFITS:
Research has shown that keeping a personal diary or journal like Pointo has significant benefits for both your mental and physical health, as well as your social skills. Documenting experiences and emotions helps you develop your emotional intelligence - the ability to identify and manage your emotions. This also helps you to pursue your goals and dreams in the face of hardships - an important predictor of success.

By speaking out your thoughts and feelings, you “off-load” the processing of your memories from your brain to your journal. This results in better memory, and better sleep. Over time, these memories can also support you in dealing with traumatic events or overcoming difficulties.

WHY TALK, NOT WRITE?
Unlike with traditional written diaries, with Pointo you are one step closer to talk therapy (such as psychotherapy and CBT) because you can express yourself in your own voice and intonation, through music, song, or poetry.

Voice is the natural way for people to communicate, and it's an expression of your body, similar to posture and gestures. Voice can influence your mood, and it's an important way to learn how to regulate your emotions yourself (self-soothing) and gain mindfulness.

Pointo is designed to be beautiful and minimalist, so it comes to you as a blank canvas on which you can express your own personality and lifestyle.

By adding a photo, drawing, or other visuals you can better remember the specific moment. By adding tags, notes, and places, you can better organize your journal. This way you can come back in months or years and enjoy your past moments.

BEGIN WITH 3 SIMPLE TIPS:

(1) Less is more.
Start by recording for 2 minutes a day, until you get into a daily habit.
Speaking for 1 minute is equivalent to typing about 130 words, so even in only 2 minutes you can say a lot. :)

(2) Record mundane things
No matter how trivial a conversation or a thought seems to you now, document it.
You never know how you are going to feel about it a few months or years into the future.

(3) Add notes, visual aids and tags
This way you can document your life in richer detail, and exercise your memory.

Pointo is not a replacement for sharing with a friend or a therapist. However, if you feel insecure about sharing with a person, you can start by practicing with Pointo on your own first (you can also privately share the recording later on if you wish).

A lot of people also find that they prefer voicing with Pointo when they are walking, cooking, running or doing another activity, which helps to “unlock” their brain.

For your privacy and peace of mind, your Pointo diary/journal is passcode protected, and can be optionally backed-up to your personal Google Drive. Everything on the technical side has been taken care of, so you start right away :-)

We sincerely hope you love documenting your life’s journey with Pointo as much as we do.
